Frequently asked questions
Access, data, doses, working without internet and who is behind VetLek.
Is VetLek free?
Yes - VetLek is financed by advertising. You need an account. A veterinarian has full access at once after giving their PWZ registration number - we check it by hand in the public register of the veterinary chamber and renew the confirmation every year. A veterinary student has full access for a year after confirming their university e-mail. Anyone else gets the full data of 10 medicines, the medicines catalogue and the tools, and can ask for full access in the app.
Is there a phone app?
Yes - for iPhone on the App Store. The Google Play version is coming soon; on Android, open app.vetlek.pet in the browser until then, and we will announce the release in the newsletter on vetlek.pet. You sign in with the same account everywhere.
Where does the medicine data come from?
From the Polish Register of Medicinal Products run by URPL (Polish SmPCs and leaflets) and the EU Union Product Database run by EMA. Every document links to its source.
Can I rely on the converted amount?
VetLek serves information and educational purposes and makes no therapeutic decisions. Every dose shows the source sentence from the SmPC so you can check it at a glance. Always verify a converted amount against the current SmPC in the Register of Medicinal Products - the decision on treatment, product and dose is the veterinarian’s.
Does the app work offline?
Yes. The dataset is stored on the device and search and calculations run locally. Full SmPC texts and version comparisons need a connection unless you save them first.
What if a dose is wrong?
Every dosing in the app has “Report an error in this dosing”, and every SmPC section “Report an error in this section”. You can also write to us through the ideas form.
Which tools are in the app?
Converting an mg/kg dose from the SmPC into the amount of product, constant rate infusion (CRI), the anaesthesia card, fluid therapy, potassium supplementation, emergency drugs (CPR), poisoning, energy requirement, transfusion, concentrations and dilution, unit conversion and the end of a withdrawal period. The tools built on guidelines name their source under the result. The results are auxiliary - always verify them against the current SmPC.
Are there ads in the app?
Yes - they finance VetLek. Every ad is marked (“Sponsored” or “From VetLek”) and never changes medicine data or the results of the tools. Ads for prescription-only medicines are shown only to veterinarians with a confirmed PWZ number.
Who is behind VetLek?
The founder and developer Mateusz Stopinski, and volunteers: two veterinarians who advise on the substance of the tools and a graphic designer. The volunteers help anonymously. VetLek is an open initiative for veterinary medicine and shelters - anyone can join, anonymously or listed by name on the About page.
When will the shelter solution be ready?
It is in progress. Sign up for early access and we will get in touch when there is something to show, or earlier if you want to help shape it.
